VALDEZ "GOLD RUSH" DAYS
(AND....the weather cooperated ...until the very very end!!)
This week was the towns "50th" Anniversary of "GOLD RUSH DAYS", so we have pictures of some of the events that we hung around town for. It was a lot of fun. Gotta love small towns.
Before the parade began on Sunday 3:00, they closed off the street to traffic, and the little kids sat on the curbs with plastic bags ready to gather up some of the candy that was thrown from the floats.
Do you remember doing that as a kid???? They still do this in small towns, I sometimes wish we could turn back time. |
The most "beautiful" dresses........(this couple pushed their little one in a baby stroller) |
ELVIS made it to the parade this year........... |
Lots of couples dressed in 'gold rush attire' |
This float was 'Ducks Unlimited', but I like the moose the best. |
And....ya gotta have a bald eagle in the parade... IT'S ALASKA!! |
Check out the these little guys pulling this coach..... |
Loved the way this town gets into the spirit of "Gold Rush" |
And Bethany and Shelby thought their marching band was small...................................... |
And ALWAYS shriners...quite a few for this small town, driving their little cars...(aka...converted lawn mowers.) |
...different definition for a 'tandem' bike....both boys had pedals, one boy was going up, as the other one was going down......thats because the axle was not 'centered ..
|
Cardboard Boat races...about 15 entered this race, the majority of them actually did make it across the pond. They had to be made entirely out of cardboard and duct tape. "Life jackets" were mandatory.

The 'Coast Guard' standing by for rescue..... |
'Kelsey Dock' where they hosted a 'Fish Fry', this is actually part of the area near the Ferry Terminal. Lots of fun!! Elvis has left the building...................... |
